Pomsky of the Day:
Loki

Owner’s name:
Kayleigh Rowland

Hometown:
Taunton, England

How old is Loki?
Loki was born on 16th September 2013!

What is his favorite dog toy?
Loki loves teddies! His favourites are his triceratops and Graham the Gorilla! They go to bed with him every night without fail

What is his favorite dog treat?
For a natural treat, Loki loves a frozen carrot, when we are out on a walk or training, we use pooch and mutt training treats as he goes crazy for them!

What made you decide to get a Pomsky?
When I moved in to my new home, it felt empty without a dog, and I had always said when I had my own house that I would have a Husky.

I started researching Huskies and their temperaments and was concerned about the high energy and prey drive, and was not sure if it was something I could handle as my first dog which wasn’t a family pet.

During my search I came across the much shared photo of the Finnish Lapphund puppy that was supposedly a Pomsky. A husky that ‘never grows up’. Thinking this was the perfect solution I frantically searched for a breeder, which back in 2013 wasn’t easy to come by in the UK. Finally, I came across Moonlit Pomskies, and joined their Facebook group to learn more. The tiny toy husky that never grew up was fake but instead my eyes were opened up to a gorgeous pandora box of Pomskies! I loved seeing the variety in shapes, sizes and personalities across all of them! I knew they were the dog for me.

Shortly after I found the group I was contacted and asked what I was looking for in a Pomsky, I reeled off a list of medium sized/male/brown eyes/blue fur. As if by fate, the owner originally lined up for Loki could not take him and he was exactly what I had described!!!

It was a very emotional moment having him home with us, and I can’t remember what it was like without him.

What’s the funniest story you have about your Pomsky?
Loki has always thought that he is a bigger dog than what he actually is! Quite literally a husky in a smaller dogs body. When he was about 12 weeks old we were walking around a pet store and he confidently bounded up to a giant Alaskan Malamute and started playing! It was quite a sight seeing a tiny bundle of fluff try to pin down a malamute. Needless to say, he didn’t get very far.

What makes your Pomsky so great?
His temperament is what makes him so amazing, I have honestly never met a more laid back, outgoing and friendly dog. I have never once heard a growl from him outside of play and his goal in life is to make friends with anyone he meets. He is very sensitive to us as well when we are unwell and is fantastic and gentle with my disable brother when he comes to visit.

What’s one dog product you couldn’t live without?
Lint Rollers!!! When you have a Pomsky that is so affectionate and loving and constantly wants a cuddle, you end up with a lot of fur all over your lap, upholstery, furniture! Especially when he’s blowing his coat. A lint roller is a must for us now.

What’s your best advice for someone who’s considering getting a Pomsky?
Research, research, research. Be prepared for the temperaments of a Husky, a Pomeranian and every combination inbetween. There are no guarantees with a Pomsky what you will get, so you need to be able to handle any combination, but that’s what do great about them! Also, do your due diligence to find a suitable breeder, don’t be ruled by how much your pup costs, but by how much support and aftercare you receive, as that will be priceless.
